CL-Cow Replacer
Cuprem manufactures several products designed to help the producer get 100 grams of globulin proteins into their calves as soon after birth as possible.
CL-Cow Replacer is a colostrum-based milk replacer designed to be used along with colostrum from the cow. It is often used by beef producers when the calf is weak or cold, giving the calf energy so it can get up and nurse. If the cow won't let the calf nurse, and it's going to be more than four hours before the cow is caught and the calf nurses, a second bag of CL-Cow Replacer should be used.
CL-Cow Replacer is available in 250 gram packages. Many calf producers give a Calf 7 Capsule to every calf born, as Calf 7 Capsule contain a source of live (viable) naturally-occurring microorganisms plus vitamin A, D3, E and C.
Dairies use CL-Cow Replacer much the same way, except instead of putting the calf back on the cow, they give two quarts of the cow's colostrum along with CL-Cow Replacer at birth, and another two quarts four to six hours later.
MIXING INFORMATION FOR COLOSTRUM SUPPLEMENTS
When using a colostrum supplement, it's important to use warm water (110 F), just warm to the touch. Mix in colostrum supplement and mix with a whisk until there are small beads on the top. Let set for three to five minutes and whisk again until all beads are gone. Then administer with a nipple, pail, bottle or esophageal feeder.
It's accepted by most that calves need 100 grams of globulin proteins as soon after birth as possible to maintain maternal antibodies levels for normal health.
